Wednesday, 9/24/08 Reported By: Brooke

RINNNNNG! Goes the school bell. Everybody on the playground line up and all the teachers come out wearing nice suits and dresses. My class goes inside with are teacher Ms. Jensen. As soon as we got in the room, we saw a box that said “Brownie”. Ms Jensen said “Our classroom pet Brownie has just died’’.  Brownie was one of our mice. The other little black mouse is still alive. I remember Brownie when I moved to fourth grade. Now I am in 5th grade and Brownie is gone and I will never see her again.

Ms. Jensen said we should do our morning work on the board.  I had to go look for a shovel in other classrooms for the burial of Brownie. I could not find a shovel so Ms. Jensen said she would use a dustpan. Ms. Jensen got the coffin for Brownie, a garden box and dustpan and told the class to get in line for the funeral of Brownie. We went to a dirt path near the church and put Brownie in the hole we dug up. We said a prayer for her and poured the dirt on the coffin and put rocks all over it.  I found a pearl and put it in the middle. We all went back to the classroom and did our reading stations.

After that, we went to the library. I picked out a book called “Halloween”. We came back and did more stations. Rinnng!! The time I have been waiting for, snack! After snack it was math. We got out our math workbooks and did our work. After doing work in our workbooks we learned about factors and divisible and practiced what we learned on our whiteboards. Afterwards we learned about ‘my kids bank”. We learned about keeping our class cash in our bank account and how to we go to the website to look at our account. We wrote down our user name and password. Rinnnng! Lunchtime! After lunch was science, we watched a quick Brain Pop movie about the six kingdoms. Next, we did worksheets. Then we wrote down our homework.

Finally we started correcting our ITBS booklet we did over the summer. Rinnng! The end of the day. We packed up and went home. What a great day at STS!
